What is a Dental Appliance?

While brushing and flossing are an excellent start to maintaining oral health, we must do even more. Those who play sports, who snore or clench or grind their teeth need to preserve and protect their oral structures. A dental appliance can help us do this.

Dental appliances offered at Sudbury Dental Group – such as mouth guards and sleep apnea devices – can help improve and protect the health of our oral cavity, and our entire bodies.

Snoring & Sleep Apnea Appliances

Sleep disorders can keep you from getting a good night's rest and negatively impact your overall health and well-being.

For patients who snore, throat tissues can relax and cause the airway to restrict.

As oxygen is forced past the airway, this makes a snoring sound. In patients with sleep apnea, their throat tissues over-relax and block the airway. The brain then wakes them up to breathe.

At Sudbury Dental Group, we provide custom-fitted oral appliances to shift the lower jaw and tongue muscles to open the airway.

This helps improve your airflow and prevents you from waking throughout the night.

Custom-Fitted Mouth Guards

Our custom-made mouth guards fit over your teeth and protect them from damage.

Sports Guards

If you take a hit in the mouth during a sports activity, a mouth guard acts as a barrier between your teeth and the soft tissue of your mouth to protect your smile.

Night Guards

Do you grind your teeth during sleep? A mouth guard will help protect your teeth from damage. If you clench your jaw, a mouth guard will also help keep you from clenching and provide some pain relief.
